Why so cheap?
If you want to understand a little bit more about why we can achieve these
savings for you, then have a look at some of the circumstances which 'defeat'
systems and can lead to you OVERPAYING for your cover.
Company car/named driver experience
If you've been regularly driving a car but, for whatever reason, it has
not been insured in your name, you will not be entitled to any No Claims
Bonus - but surely that's not fair! No - it isn't. That is why we will
normally be able to give you up to 60% No Claims Bonus depending on how
long the experience is - sometimes even if you've had a claim.
Second car
If you buy a second car, you'll normally have to start again with your
No Claims Bonus - you can usually only have your No Claims Discount on
one car at a time. We can normally give you the discount on both (depending
on your circumstances).
Previous claims
Lots of insurers avoid you like the plague if you have had claims - others
rub salt in the wound by reducing your No Claims Bonus and then loading
the premium as well. Most insurers take into account claims in the last
3 years, so what if you had a claim 2 years and 9 months ago - most companies
would still charge you an extra premium or refuse to cover you altogether
- not us. More often than not we would insure you at normal terms.
Protected No Claims Bonus
In recent times, protected No Claims Bonus has become very expensive
- do you really need it? If you have a claim, did you know that most insurers
will not transfer the entitlement.
For example, if you are insured with "Company X" with protected
Bonus and you have a claim, come renewal time, they will still give you
full No Claims Bonus, but may load your premium because you have had a
claim. So you shop around only to find that most companies will not give
you full No Claims Discount because it's not automatically transferable!
Is it worth paying lots more for it in the first place? We can advise
you depending on your individual circumstances.
Lifestyle
There are many lifestyle factors that are not always built into insurance
quotation systems, but help in improving an overall risk profile. For
example, non-smokers;
We are not looking to penalise smokers, but help non-smokers. Ask yourself
one question! How many times have you been driving along and had a 'near
miss' when you've been 'lighting up' or fumbling to find the ashtray.
Worst still when you're fighting to save your rear seat upholstery after
unsuccessfully attempting to discard the dimp through a partially open
side window only to have it blow back in? If the answer is never, it's
probably because you don't smoke.
Most smokers answering honestly would be able to recall at least one
such occasion - can you? If you're less likely to have a bump, shouldn't
you get cheaper insurance? The smoking debate goes on! The list of lifestyle
factors is endless. Indeed it may well be the case that YOU can think
of other factors that lower your risk.
